become an
intern
Please note, that we do not have a formal internship program per se, we simply provide access to students to gain hands-on experience in our field while working for our organisation.
Our interns do, however, take on the role of an employee and are given ownership of specific projects and deliverables, while at the same time job shadow the members of our team during client meetings, workshops, fieldwork and the daily grind.
All internships are to be carried out in person at our office in Cape Town South Africa.
What to expect
-
Neural Sense is by no means a large organisation - we are more of a start-up tech company with an entrepreneurial spirit. We leverage a network of industry experts in the fields of psychology, biomedical engineering, electroencephalography and other fields relevant to consumer neuroscience. So, although we have a small internal team you would still be exposed to many different skill sets.
-
You would be working very closely with our team on all aspects of our business, from research proposals, sourcing new business leads, and assisting in ongoing projects, to taking part in areas of marketing, such as blog writing, social media, and content creation. This will be a great experience from a "running your own start-up business" perspective (but not from a "working for a big corporate" perspective).
-
We will hopefully have some live research projects and fieldwork happening during the period of the internship, however, you must be aware that there may be "down time" during which you would be helping us build research proposals, conduct demo research (whereby you will most likely be a test subject - think Frankenstein), assist in marketing campaigns, marketing strategy and anything else that may be going on at the time of your internship.
-
We provide you with the flexibility to work the hours that suit you best and at the level you desire. However, it's entirely up to you to make the most of your time with us and we expect that you honour the commitment you make at the beginning of the internship in terms of the number of hours to be worked.
-
Our internships are unpaid and we provide no support regarding the arrangement of accommodation/daily transport/meals etc. as these are all for your own account (we will, however, provide advice and guidance in this regard).
How to apply
Please provide us with the following:
-
A brief motivation letter (a few paragraphs on why you would like to join Neural Sense specifically for your internship)
-
A copy of your CV as well as your latest academic transcript
-
An indication of your preferred start and end dates
Please note that due to the high demand for internship placements at our organisation we cannot take on everyone, so your application may be unsuccessful.
